ISLAMORADAMAP.gif (49757 bytes) Islamorada, named by the Spaniards as Isla Morada or Purple Island because of the large number of sea snails that colored the shores, is one of the most prolific fishing places in the world.

Only a few miles south of your vacation home you can go out fishing in many different ways. If your do not have a boat you can charter your own and go out into the Gulf Stream in search of the "big" fish. Or you can rent your small boat and go fishing for snapper, dolphin, yellowtail, grouper or dive for lobster and stone crabs.

There are also a number of beautiful state parks where you can swim, picnic or just relax.

Like everywhere in the keys you can also rent jet skis and have a great time enjoying the water and the sun.
